Safety Protocols
Since we are still in the midst of the pandemic, we need to have health and safety measures. The government of the Philippines announced that the NCR + (Metro Manila, Bulacan, Cavite, Laguna and Rizal) are now under MECQ (Modified Enhance Community Quarantine) from April 12, 2021 to April 30, 2021. This means that Marikina City is still under the lesser restrictive MECQ.
Only one person per household can go out to buy basic needs. The authorized persons outside of the residence (APOR) can also go outside and these are the people who are working in the medical, banking, utilities and food industries. Only one person per household can go out to get medicine, food, and other necessary items. People who have other health risks, individuals who are 18 years old below, and 65 years old above shall stay inside their homes. The imposed curfew under the MECQ is from 8pm to 5am.
Gatherings are not allowed under MECQ, except for health or government services and humanitarian activities that were allowed by the appropriate agencies. Religious gatherings are also allowed, but only up until 10 percent of the venue and an authorization letter from the respective local government unit (LGU) is needed. Gatherings for funerals and other necrological services are allowed, but only for immediate family members who can prove their relationship with the deceased.
Only outdoor dining is permitted under MECQ with the use of acrylic dividers, diagonal seating arrangements and allowing only up to 50 percent capacity. People should follow the safety measures like observing proper mask etiquette, social distancing, bringing your own utensils, and making reservations ahead of time.
Those people who want to go to NCR plus must stop during checkpoints in boundaries. Passengers who want travel through domestic and international flights are also allowed only if their travel is essential. The modes of public transportation allowed during GCQ are also allowed on the streets under MECQ.
